How to Transfer and Upload Your Existing Data to Ninety

Ninety's support team can upload your existing business data to your account so you don't have to start from scratch. Whether you're new to Ninety or migrating from another platform like Bloom Growth, we can transfer your Rocks (your 90-day priorities), To-Dos, Issues, Scorecard Measurables, and more.

Owners and Admins typically initiate upload requests, though Coaches (Implementers) and Partner Relationship Managers often submit requests on behalf of their clients.

This is a service performed by Ninety's team; there is no self-service bulk upload tool for Rocks, To-Dos, Issues, or Scorecard data. The only self-service import option is the Directory bulk import for adding users.

What we can upload

Ninety's data upload service covers the following tools and timeframes:

  • Scorecard Measurables from the previous 13 weeks.
  • Headlines.
  • Vision/Traction Organizer (V/TO).
  • Accountability Chart (your org structure in EOS).
  • Active data from the last 12 months, including Rocks, To-Dos, and Issues.
  • Directory users and team assignments.

What we cannot upload

Some types of data cannot be transferred through our upload service:

  • Headline archives.
  • Past meeting notes.
  • KPI formulas and Measurables using the formula builder (sometimes called Smart Measurables). We can upload the raw values, but not the formulas that calculate them. You will need to recreate formulas manually using the Formula Builder in Ninety. Learn more about the formula builder.
  • Processes.
  • 1-on-1 conversations and performance evaluations.

Pricing

Data upload pricing depends on the scope of your request:

  • Senior leadership team: Free. We will upload your leadership team's data at no cost.
  • Multiple teams: $500. If you need data uploaded for more than your senior leadership team, a flat fee of $500 applies.

Q: How much does a data upload cost? A: Uploading data for your senior leadership team is free. Uploading data for multiple teams costs $500.

How to send us your data

To submit a data upload request, follow these steps:

  1. Open the data upload request form.
  2. Fill out the form and attach your files using our data upload spreadsheet template.
  3. If you are uploading more than one file, compress all your files into a single zip file before attaching. See "Tips for creating a zip file" below for instructions.
  4. Click Submit at the bottom of the form.

If you have a specific deadline, such as an upcoming Level 10 Meeting (L10), mention it in the form so we can prioritize your request.

What to expect after you submit

After you submit your data upload request, here is what happens next:

  • Confirmation and review. Our team will review your files, confirm the details, and share the expected timeline.
  • Turnaround time. Most uploads are completed within 1–5 business days. Larger or multi-team uploads may take longer depending on the amount of manual data entry required and the current queue.
  • Do not edit your account. While the upload is in progress, do not edit or change anything in your Ninety account for the sections being uploaded. Changes during the upload can cause conflicts with the data our team is entering.
  • One round of revisions. One round of revisions is included after the initial upload. If you notice any inaccuracies, let us know, and we will make corrections in a single pass.
  • Temporary staff account. A temporary Ninety staff account may appear in your Directory during the upload process. This is normal. Once the upload is confirmed complete, an Owner or Admin can remove this user from the Directory.

Q: How long does a data upload take? A: Most uploads are completed within 1–5 business days. Larger uploads involving multiple teams or extensive manual data entry may take longer. If you have a deadline, mention it when you submit the form.

Filling out the data upload sheet

Here are tips for filling out the data upload spreadsheet template correctly:

  • All required fields have a red header.
  • If you have more than one team, create a separate tab for each team and label it with the team name and item type. For example, "Leadership To-Dos" as one tab and "Marketing To-Dos" as another.
  • Make sure each person you assign an item to in the spreadsheet is already invited to Ninety and on the team referenced in the tab's name.
  • Entering a date in the past automatically archives that item in your Ninety account.

Tips for formatting data from other software

If you are importing data from Asana, Trello, ClickUp, or another project management tool, use their Export to PDF or Export to Excel function. Name each file by its content type (for example, "Leadership Team To-Dos") and submit it through the data upload form.

Transferring from Bloom Growth

If you are migrating from Bloom Growth to Ninety, follow these steps to export your data:

  1. Create a support ticket in Bloom Growth for each team in your account.
  2. Select Data Export from the first dropdown.
  3. Enter your name and contact information.
  4. Click Urgent as the priority level.
  5. Write in your access security code.
  6. Request a spreadsheet with all your team's data, with a separate tab for each tool: Issues, To-Dos, Metrics, Goals, Org Chart, and Business Plan.

Pro tip: In Bloom Growth, open each team, hold Shift, and click "Export All" to export everything for that team at once.

Once you have your exports, submit them through the data upload request form. For Rocks, Issues, and To-Dos, prepare a CSV file containing all existing data. For KPIs, upload the first 13 weeks of current data for each team.

We cannot upload formulas from Bloom Growth directly. You will need to recreate any Smart Measurables manually using Ninety's Formula Builder.

Tips for creating a zip file

If you need to submit multiple files for your upload request:

  1. Move all your files to one folder on your computer or in cloud storage, including the data upload template.
  2. Right-click the folder and select Compress to ZIP file (or Send to > Compressed folder on Windows).
  3. Attach the zip file to the data upload form.

Data uploads versus data exports

This article covers uploading data into your Ninety account. If you need to export data out of Ninety, that is a separate process.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The Directory bulk import stalls with a spinning wheel or gives no confirmation message. Solution:

  1. Break your CSV file into batches of 3–6 users each. A known timeout issue can cause larger imports to fail.
  2. Clear your browser cache, log out of Ninety, and try again.
  3. Try a different browser or open a private window.
  4. If the issue persists, send your CSV to our support team, and we will add the users for you. Contact support.

Issue: An unfamiliar user appears in your Directory after a data upload, such as "______ Data Upload Ninety." Solution: This is a temporary account used by Ninety's data upload team during the upload process. Once your upload is confirmed complete, an Owner or Admin can remove this user from the Directory.

Issue: You submitted a data upload request, but have not received a response. Solution:

  1. If you communicated via email, check that you used Reply All. Responses sent only to one person may not reach the support team.
  2. Check your spam folder for messages from helpful@ninety.io.
  3. If more than two business days have passed without a response, contact support for a status update.
