Why Isn't My Data Saving?

Troubleshooting guide for data that appears not to save, reverts after changes, or displays incorrectly in Ninety — covering autosave behavior, common causes, and when to contact support.

How to Fix Data That Isn't Saving in Ninety

Most tools in Ninety save your changes automatically as you type or make selections — there is no manual save button. If your data appears to revert, not stick, or display incorrectly, this guide will help you identify the cause and fix it.

When you chat with Fin about a data issue, it automatically pulls context from your most recent Ninety session — including what you were doing and any errors that occurred — so you may not need to describe everything from scratch.

How autosave works in Ninety

Changes are saved to Ninety's servers as you make them. You don't need to click a save button. However, what you see on screen is a local copy that your browser renders — if your browser's cached version is out of date, it may show stale data even after a successful save.

This is the most common reason data appears to revert: the save succeeded, but your browser is still displaying the old version.

Step 1: Do a hard refresh

Before anything else, force your browser to reload the latest version of the page:

  • Mac: Cmd + Shift + R.

  • Windows / Linux: Ctrl + F5.

If your data appears after a hard refresh, the issue was a stale browser cache — no further action needed.

Step 2: Clear your cache and log back in

If the hard refresh didn't help, clear your browser cache fully:

  1. Open your browser settings and clear cache and cookies — choose "All Time" for the time range.

  2. Close all Ninety tabs.

  3. Log back in to Ninety and check whether your data is now showing correctly.

For a full browser troubleshooting walkthrough, see How to Troubleshoot Browser-Related Issues in Ninety.

Step 3: Check for a network or session issue

A save can fail silently if your connection drops mid-edit or your session expires while you are working. Signs of this include:

  • Changes disappear after navigating away from the page.

  • The page shows a loading indicator that never completes.

  • You were inactive for a long period before noticing the issue.

If you suspect a session or network issue, log out of Ninety, close the tab, and log back in. Re-enter any changes that didn't save.

Step 4: Check whether the issue is isolated to one tool

If the problem is happening in a specific tool, check whether there is a dedicated troubleshooting guide for that area:

  • Rocks — see Editing and Updating Rocks.

  • Scorecard formulas showing blank or incorrect values — see Creating Formula-Based Measurables.

  • Data not appearing to sync with a third-party integration (ClickUp, Asana, etc.) — see the relevant integration article.

Step 5: Check whether it affects other users

Ask a teammate to check the same data in their account. This helps determine whether the issue is specific to your browser or session, or whether it's affecting the account more broadly:

  • If only you are affected, the issue is likely browser or session-related. Repeat Steps 1–3 in a different browser or incognito window.

  • If others are also affected, this may be a backend issue. Contact support so the team can investigate.

Contact support

If the issue persists after the steps above, contact the Ninety support team. Include the following to help them investigate:

  • Which tool and field the data is not saving in.

  • Whether the issue happens every time or intermittently.

  • Whether other users on your account are affected.

  • The steps you've already tried.

You can reach support through any of these channels:
