How to Show, Hide, and Restore the Left Navigation in Ninety
The left navigation is the menu along the left side of Ninety that you use to move between tools such as your Scorecard, Rocks, To-Dos, Issues, and Meetings. You can collapse it to give your workspace more room, and Ninety adjusts it automatically when your browser window is small. This article covers how to collapse and expand the navigation, and what to do when it looks like it has disappeared.
The left navigation is available to all users on all subscription plans in the web app.
How to collapse or expand the left navigation
Collapsing the left navigation shrinks it to a slim rail of icons, giving you more room for your content:
Click the chevron (<) on the right edge of the left navigation to collapse it to an icon-only rail.
To expand it again, click the Expand chevron (>) at the top of the rail.
Note: A navigation you collapse this way stays collapsed after you refresh the page or log back in, so your preferred layout is remembered.
When the left navigation is replaced by a menu icon
If your browser window is narrow or your zoom level is high, Ninety hides the always-visible left navigation to make room for your content and replaces it with a menu icon (☰) in the top left, next to the page title.
Click the menu icon (☰) in the top left to open the full left navigation.
Select the tool you want. The navigation closes on its own when you click anywhere outside it.
To bring back the always-visible navigation, widen your browser window or lower your zoom level.
Why the left navigation looks like it disappeared
There are three common reasons the left navigation isn't showing the way you expect:
You collapsed it. The navigation is showing as a slim, icon-only rail. Click the Expand chevron at the top to reopen it.
Your browser window is too narrow. Ninety replaces the full navigation with the menu icon (☰) in the top left. Widen the window, or use the menu icon to navigate.
Your browser zoom is too high. A high zoom level has the same effect as a narrow window. Reset your zoom to 100%.
How to restore the full left navigation
If you see an icon-only rail, click the Expand chevron (>) at the top to reopen the full navigation.
If you see a menu icon (☰) in the top left, click it to open the navigation, then widen your browser window or lower your zoom to keep it visible.
Reset your browser zoom to 100% (press Ctrl+0 on Windows or Cmd+0 on Mac).
Maximize or widen your browser window.
If the navigation still doesn't appear, refresh the page. For persistent display problems, see How to Troubleshoot Browser-Related Issues in Ninety.
Frequently asked questions
My left menu disappeared — how do I get it back?
Most often your browser window is too narrow or zoomed in, so Ninety replaced the menu with a menu icon (☰) in the top left. Click that icon to open the navigation, then widen the window or reset your zoom to 100% to keep it visible. If instead you see a slim rail of icons, you've collapsed the navigation — click the Expand chevron at the top to reopen it.
Will Ninety remember that I collapsed the navigation?
Yes. A navigation you collapse with the chevron stays collapsed after refreshing or logging back in. The menu-icon behavior at narrow widths is automatic and based on your current window size and zoom, so it isn't a saved setting.
A specific tool is missing from my navigation.
If the navigation is visible but a particular tool isn't listed, it's usually limited by your subscription plan or your user role and permissions, rather than a display issue. Check with your account's Owner or Admin.
