How to Receive Email Notifications and Reminders in Ninety

Ninety can remind you about the work you own and tell you when something changes on it. This article covers the two reminder methods available in User Settings, and points to the other emails Ninety sends.

Video: setting up notifications, integrations, and reminders

Watch the video below for the three ways Ninety keeps you informed: the recap email after a meeting, your in-app notification settings, and integrations that push updates into the tools you already use.

The video covers:

  • Event notifications. Turn each event on or off and choose whether it reaches you by email, web, or mobile. Web notifications need browser push enabled, so allow the popup when it appears — a blocked popup is the usual reason web notifications never arrive.

  • The daily email. Pick the days and the time, and Ninety sends a summary of your To-Dos, Rocks, and Milestones showing what is past due and what is coming up.

  • Integrations for getting notified elsewhere. Google and Microsoft task syncing, plus project tools such as Monday, Asana, and ClickUp. These are set per person rather than for the whole company, so each user connects their own. Zapier connects Ninety to thousands of other apps, which is how teams post a newly assigned To-Do straight into Slack.

  • Meeting recap emails. Controlled from the Conclude page at the end of a meeting. See Meeting Recap Email Notifications for the detail.

Reminder methods

We have two primary ways to receive automated reminders and notifications about your work in Ninety:

  • Email Reminders provide a daily reminder of tasks.

  • Events Notifications send you emails when someone comments on one of your items or when you're set as the owner of an item.

Since these two methods are for reminding users of their assigned items in Ninety, these settings are not available for Observers.

To access User Settings, click your name at the bottom of the left navigation and then click User Settings.

Email reminders

Emails can be sent daily at a time chosen through User Settings > Notifications > Daily Emails. You can select a custom time to receive an email for each day of the week.

When a user is invited, by default, they are signed up to receive emails from Ninety (from notifications@ninety.io). The emails include:

  • Upcoming To-Dos, Rocks, and Milestones.

  • Past due To-Dos, Rocks, and Milestones.

  • A reminder at the end to add Issues, Headlines, and filled-out Measurables before the next meeting.

To receive daily email reminders, visit User Settings > Notifications > Daily Emails:

  1. Click your name or profile icon and select Notifications from the popup.

  2. Click the Daily Emails tab.

  3. Check the box for each day you'd like to receive an email summary from us.

  4. Choose your preferred time to receive the email.

Note: Each user must configure their own email reminder settings.

Events notifications

Users can manually set up their event notifications by visiting User Settings > Notifications > Events. Each user can turn on or off the ability to receive emails from notifications@ninety.io for the following scenarios by clicking their corresponding toggle:

  • When another user comments on an item (Rock, To-Do, or Issue) you own.

  • When another user sets you as the owner of an item (Rock, Milestone, To-Do, or Issue).
